PAINTING WITH PAN PASTELS & WAX

This is one of my favorite mediums to work with. Pan Pastels are versatile. These cake like pigments can be used to boldly paint, softly blend, lightly tint, add stencil designs or hand color photographs. First we will begin with mounting photographs on to the wood panels (cradle boards) using white PVA glue (Elmers Glue works). Next I will demonstrate the versatility of these amazing pots of pressed powder pigments and sponge applicators before we begin hand coloring a couple black and white photos. In this Zoom online workshop, you will be given several demonstrations that show you all the countless ways that these unique pastels are used in my art process. I will also demonstrate the best applicators, brushes and tools to use when painting with these color intense powdered pigment cakes. In this online workshop, I will show you how to apply the Panpastel powder pigments to a digital photo print. Next demonstration, we will brush on a few layers of wax medium to a photo surface before mixing three Panpastel colors and applying a hint of color onto our waxed service using a variety of pigment powders. These powder like pigments give the artwork a more diffused and transparent dynamic layering with depth development. We will use stencils and mask off areas to control where the pigments fall. In this workshop, you will find out how to utilize these versatile pastel powders to use for the right effect you want to achieve in your art pieces. Online Demonstrations will include using a butane torch, mixing powder pigments with molten wax and a variety of application procedures. Hand-outs will be sent via email once you book this Zoom workshop, a list of supplies for this art class are listed below in Long Description.
